About Phil Ammendolia
In 1976, when I was about 17, I came across an ad in the Sunday paper that said, “Lazy Millionaire Wants To Share the Wealth.” Whether through the innocence (or ignorance) of youth, or through sheer genius, I dropped $10 in an envelope and mailed it off with hopes of riches beyond my wildest dreams.
About 2 weeks later, Joe Karbo’s, The Lazy Mans Way to Riches arrived in my mailbox. It was a life changing event. (The book is still available at: www.thelazymanswaytoriches.com)
The book is written in two parts. The first deals with success; setting goals the right way; developing the ability to apply your subconscious mind to achieve your dreams. My dream was to work in the motorcycle industry. My room was covered with posters of motorcycle racing World Champions and the top pros of the day. I devoured every motorcycle magazine I could get my hands on and always watched to see of a motorcycle event was being covered on Wide World of Sports. The second part dealt with what Joe considered to be the best business in the world; direct marketing, which would now be internet marketing. More on that later…
35 years later, I’ve had the coolest life. I was the Sales Representative of the Year for a little company called Fox Racing. After that, they asked me to be their National Sales Manager and together we built what was to become one of the most successful brands in the world of action sports, selling over $120 million per year. And the success just kept coming. After Fox, I worked with and helped grow other cool brands like Alpinestars and Bell Helmets. All in all, the brands I’ve worked with sell a total of over $400 million per year.
Today, I make a great living working with a global company designing motorcycle helmets. I have an office in my home in northern California, another in Los Angeles, California and one in Shanghai, China. I travel to our design center near Milan, Italy and work with some of the best designers and engineers in the business. I stay in 5 star hotels, and many of the champions in those posters on my teenage wall are now my friends. In all those years, I’ve ALWAYS had written goals that I referred to regularly. And I owe it all to Joe Karbo.
At the start of 2011, I decided I wanted to develop a business in online marketing. I still had my original copy of Joe’s book. As I considered this new venture, I started to wonder about this book that had been such a huge part of my life. I knew Joe had passed away in 1980. I knew a friend of his had bought the rights from his estate and carried the torch. But that was all I knew. Through quite a bit of work and an amazing amount of “luck” I found the owner; the widow of Joe’s friend Richard G. Nixon. Richard had also passed away, but not before writing two new versions of The Lazy Man’s Way to Riches, adding to and expanding on the ideas and teachings of Joe Karbo.
Richard’s widow Donna and I became fast friends. We both have a love for motorcycles, and we both have a love for this material because we’ve both seen what it can do to help people achieve the life of their dreams. We worked out an agreement and I am now the one carrying the torch for Joe and Richard.
It is my plan to remain true to the fundamentals of these great men. As Richard did with Joe’s material, I plan to keep all the original information intact in its entirety and only add information that is new and “state of the art” in the field of success and direct marketing, which today means internet marketing.
I hope you’ll decide to come along for the ride. Joe really believed that you could have everything in life you really want. I do too.
